Make Ironing Mat

So i decided to make an ironing mat which turns my table into a big ironing board.

Before you sew your three pieces together make sure they are laid on top of one another in this order. When not in use simply roll up the mat and tie it for easy storage. Sew the three pieces together on three sides make sure to leave an opening on one edge. 100 cotton fabric for ironing mat top and backing insulbright insulated batting or any other insulated batting 100 cotton batting optional cotton scraps to pad batting cotton binding cotton thread my finished mat size is 30 x20 so i started by cutting all of my fabrics to just over that size.

You will use the opening to flip your ironing pad right side out so that the fleece and decorative fabrics are sandwiching the insul bright and the magnets. You can make it any size you want with the cotton fabric of your choice and the heat resistant fabric will protect your table top. Ironing boards are good for clothing items etc but when it comes to ironing yards of fabric it s just really nice to have a wider space for ironing. One of the sizes you can buy measures about 17 by17 inches and you can get it in 1 2 inch thicknesses. Not only do i need to make an ironing mat i have to give my washer and dryer a little pizzazz too. The top fabric should be the same size as the batting and the bottom fabric should extend at least 1 5 out from the batting.

Julia june 18 2015. This is such a nice idea and i love the spotty fabric. I finally decided i was going to make my own ironing pad because it s just not practical to have a large permanent table taking up space in my house. An ironing mat is a great addition to a sewing or craft space and is sometimes more convenient than an ironing board.

What an awesome idea. I m working on a bigger project that will involve a lot of ironing. My ironing board simply isn t big enough and it would be a pain to keep moving everything around. Holly olivia june 18 2015.

It can be more than that but it needs to be at least that minimum.
